It was a difficult question as to what the last concert before the festival season should be. Which genre? Which location? What is important to us? All these questions play a central role in our selection, because our musical tastes are wide-ranging and we don’t go to concerts that we know are not our style of music. In light of what we’ve experienced this year, it was time for some metalcore again. This genre is a bit neglected here, which is why the SETYØURSAILS concert in Leipzig was the perfect opportunity to make up for it a bit. LOST IN HOLLYWOOD were there as support. Read below to find out what the evening was like and what I learned from it!
Thanks again to lightinmirror.de for the photographic support! Where would I be without you?

LOST IN HOLLYWOOD
We started with the Hamburg band LOST IN HOLLYWOOD, which was first founded in 2023. Admittedly, I’m not that active in the Metalcore scene, so I didn’t know this band yet. But it’s always nice to discover new bands!
Unfortunately, the band only had limited space on the already small Moritzbastei stage, so there wasn’t much room for much movement. In view of this, however, they gave it their all! It was also a shame that the audience, with the exception of a few in the front row, were not so receptive to the singer’s attempts at animation. With a more willing audience, more could have been achieved.
Musically, I thought it was okay. Vocally, the singer reminded me a bit of the singer from BAD OMENS! The band’s sound was very high quality and there was a lot of potential in the songwriting, but overall I still lacked a bit of self-confidence on stage. There was simply a lack of routine and I would almost blame it on the fact that the band is still very young. With more vigor and power, they could do even better!
The set as such was very extensive with ten songs and gave a good insight into the band’s release history to date.
All in all, LOST IN HOLLYWOOD were a good opener who did their best to get everyone in the right mood for SETYØURSAILS. With more playing experience, there will be a lot more to come in the future!

SETYØURSAILS
Anyone with an eye on the Metal scene is sure to have come across SETYØURSAILS recently. That was also one of the reasons why we were drawn to Leipzig that evening. Of course, I had been listening to the current album Bad Blood in the run-up to the show and was therefore well prepared!
The start of the headline set by the band around singer Jules was brilliant and bursting with enthusiasm and gripping energy. The setlist comprised a full 15 songs and there was not even a hint of fatigue or exhaustion in any of them! Considering the complexity of a headline tour for a band like SETYØURSAILS, I would have given them credit for that in any case, but here the metal-o-meter was at 120%! The band’s energy was also carried by the audience in the completely sold-out Moritzbastei and you could really tell how much people celebrate this band. It did get a bit dicey with the crowdsurfers because there was no pit or security, but singer Jules managed that brilliantly so that everyone could celebrate together.
The (for me) surprisingly long set was peppered with all the songs that I had wished for in advance, above all Bad Company, Ghosts, Bad Blood and Dangerous. With the latter, it was time for bassist Nicolai to test how loyal the fans actually are and whether they really want to and can carry him. The fact that he carried on playing the song almost effortlessly was proof of the commitment that is probably taken for granted within the band! Another special musical highlight was the guest appearance by Sushi from GHØSTKID, which must have delighted many in the audience.
There’s really no getting around the fact that SETYØURSAILS‚ first headlining tour was a complete success! Not only were around 3000 tickets sold, but the team around the band also did an outstanding job considering the hardships. From the nice girls at the merch desk to a great light show and perfectly mixed sound, everything was perfect! It’s easy to argue about metalcore and the place of this genre within the metal scene, but with SETYØURSAILS you have to realize that this band is about to subjugate the scene. They work incredibly hard on themselves, their music and their performances and the upswing that is now coming for this band is palpable. In this respect, we are of course even more pleased that we were able to experience them in this more intimate setting at Moritzbastei!
If you also want a bit of Bad Blood feeling, then you should definitely see SETYØURSAILS live!
That brings us to the end of the evening and that means: next stop Rockharz!
