Hello Concert-Autumn 2025! – CHAOSBAY in Leipzig

Zur deutschen Version geht es hier.

We’re back from the underground, back for more! At least for me, that’s how the tagline for last Saturday at the Moritzbastei in Leipzig should go. After a short break on my part due to my studies, we went to one of our absolute must-see events this year: CHAOSBAY! The Progressive Metalcore guys from Berlin and Kaiserslautern were supported by SENNA and LETTERS SENT. The line-up promised a lot, it was unusually warm that day, and the audience was really excited about this powerful mix of music.

Letters Sent

The show kicked off with local heroes LETTERS SENT. It’s always tough being the first band on stage because the audience is still “cold” and you have to get them in the mood first. But the band quickly brought a ton of energy and enthusiasm to the stage, which really got the audience going. Even a microphone failure could only briefly halt their musical march forward.

You can tell how much this band enjoys performing and really gives it their all. For me personally, that’s worth more than a perfect show. I could have done without the clean vocals, but that’s a matter of taste. What remains in the end is a band that really made the most of their short time on stage and skillfully set the tone for the evening.

Senna

The good thing about going to concerts regularly is that you get to see and hear bands you hadn’t heard of before! That’s how it was with SENNA. The Mannheim-based band plays an interesting mix of Pop, Metal, and Progressive music, which isn’t really my taste, but fits perfectly into the current German alternative scene. Songs like Rosehip also demonstrate a keen sense for harmonies that work and fitting lyrics, which should definitely appeal to those who like things a little more subtle.

Compared to the energy level of LETTERS SENT, however, there was still a noticeable discrepancy here, which is probably related to the change at the microphone that took place at the beginning of September. Less than two weeks after the announcement, you simply can’t expect a full-fledged show! Nevertheless, I would like to see SENNA show a little more energy on stage in the future and dare to perform a little more for the audience. On the concert evening at the Moritzbastei, they were still a little too static on stage for my taste! But nothing is set in stone.

Chaosbay

Honestly, sometimes I wonder what else I can say when a band just delivers 150%. It’s really enough to say “10/10, we’d love to see them again!” But this wouldn’t be a blog if I couldn’t expand on that a little more!

Anyone who follows this blog knows that CHAOSBAY simply have a special place in our hearts, and when they’re nearby, we’re naturally there too. So there was no question that this would also be the case on September 20 on their latest headlining tour.

The set, comprising a total of 16 songs, left virtually nothing to be desired that evening, and the atmosphere was simply insane! Personally, I always hope that one or two songs from Vasilisa will find their way into the set, but when you take a closer look at CHAOSBAY’s current discography, I understand why that wasn’t the case.

However, all the popular songs were there, and I was particularly happy about Soldiers, Amen, and 2 Billion, not least because the latter was back on the setlist for the first time in three years.

CHAOSBAY consistently deliver incredible energy on stage, which not only fires up the audience but also touches on the sensitive issues in our society. This combination is as catchy as it is stirring and is largely supported by the high level of skill of the respective band members. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the fast drums, the detailed guitar parts, the well-placed bass lines, or the skillful vocals, everything just fits together. Anyone who misses this is really missing out.

For us, CHAOSBAY is just as appealing today as it was five years ago when we first saw them live, and it’s incredibly valuable that they have retained this appeal, even though they have refined it. Or, to put it briefly: 10/10, we’d love to see them again!

You’ve reached the end of the article, but don’t worry! There’s a little more CHAOSBAY content coming your way soon! So stay tuned!
