Have you ever wondered how it would sound if MANOWAR had two singers and made their debut nowadays? Yes? Perfect! Then I have just the thing for you: the up-and-coming band ALL FOR METAL! The group around the singers Antonio Calanna and Tim „Tetzel“ Schmidt properly heated up the Rockharz! In the interview you can now read how the gig was for singer Antonio and where the band is going.

Shieldmaiden’s Voice: What makes ALL FOR METAL unique and not some standard Heavy Metal band?

Antonio Calanna: We make fun! We are creative and take traditional heavy metal inspirations to present them in a modern way to the listeners in 2023! Metal should revive with us and we want to offer the maximum entertainment to the listeners.

SV: Which one of you songs represents you the best?

Antonio: The Day of Hammerfall! For this song I have to give everything, my voice has to be especially powerful. It’s a good metaphor, because The Day of Hammerfall is supposed to be the day I shine especially bright, so to speak!

SV: Why should people listen to your debut album Legends?

Antonio: We have waited almost two years for the release day and have put a lot of work into the album. It’s a pleasure to see that people are so supportive of us doing this. The story behind the album is incredible and we’ve been so committed to getting to release day! That alone makes it worth it!

SV: Who do you want to reach with this album? Who is your target audience?

Antonio: Clearly the people who like Heavy Metal and who want a certain nostalgia. It may sound a bit general, but we want to bring back more of a mid-tempo variety of Heavy Metal, which is different from the fast styles that are popular right now. Our debut song was All For Metal, a song that also encourages you to march!

SV: Your gig at Rockharz was only your second ever and it was also relatively early. What did this gig mean to you?

Antonio: We are very focused on our goal and that goal is to become as big or as well known as possible. We are enormously grateful that we could play here at Rockharz. It’s a great festival and we worked hard to be able to be on stage here.

SV: How did you like the show?

Antonio: I am Italian, but I love Germans and I love Germany. It’s awesome that I can be here and the German crowd is just fantastic! Playing here was like being at home! For us as artists, as ALL FOR METAL, it was really easy to play because the people were so great and gave us so much energy!

SV: What’s next for you this year? Do you have any cool plans?

Antonio: Oh, we could do a whole separate interview about that. [laughs] On 02.08. we play in Wacken and we are really looking forward to this opportunity! In September we are on tour with WIND ROSE for three weeks. On top of that, we have more festival gigs that we will play, one of them will be Knock Out Festival. And after that we might already be working on the next album, but of course I didn’t say that…

SV: If you could wish for one thing in ALL FOR METAL’s future, what would it be?

Antonio: I love POWERWOLF and I hope that we can, at some point, reach their level with ALL FOR METAL.

SV: So… you want POWERWOLF as your support band at some point?

Antonio: [laughs] I don’t see that happening, but it would be nice to reach that level!

SV: If you could give your fans one last message, what would it be?

Antonio: Thank you for reading this interview and please, please, please support ALL FOR METAL. We are a new band, but we do everything for you: our show, our songs, it’s all for you! Together, we make Metal great again!
