Double Trouble: VICTORIUS and FALLEN SANCTUARY in Leipzig

Zur deutschen Version geht es hier.

After the review is before the release show… or something like that! Last friday, to be more exact, it was finally time and the power metal band VICTORIUS were having their release party at the Tankbar in Leipzig. The austrian-italian band FALLEN SANCTUARY were there as well as a supporting act.

Somewhere between fast guitar riffs, powerful vocals and a healthy portion of craziness, I managed to collect my thoughts for you guys!

Huge thanks, as always, to lightinmirror.de for the awesome pictures!

FALLEN SANCTUARY

It wasn’t just a special evening for VICTORIUS, but also for FALLEN SANCTUARY. The band with TEMPERANCE-musician Marco Pastorino also celebrated their album release, even though singer Georg Neuhauser couldn’t attend due to being sick.

The band, which was decimated to just three musicians, played a wonderful assortment of songs from their debut album Terranova, as well as the occasional TEMPERANCE song. I want to especially highlight that they played Diamanti which is a wonderful symphonic metal song!

I especially liked the FALLEN SANCTUARY song Broken Dreams. Their style really complimented the evening. A bit of a disappointment for me though, was the bad sound. That significantly darkened my joy about their gig and with a better sound it would have been much more enjoyable.

Nevertheless, I will seize the next opportunity to see this band in their full line-up! There is a reason after all why FALLEN SANCTURY were able to realize their debut album via crowdfunding and I also like Georg’s voice anyway. Until next time then!

VICTORIUS

VICTORIUS started with a better, though not perfect, sound!

I kind of expected the five Ninja-Dino-Warriors to play their whole new album. It’s the release-show after all, isn’t it? But let me tell you: I’m glad they didn’t do that!

The mix of newly released and (older) well-known songs really put the set to the next level.

The set also showed that VICTORIUS have seriously improved their skills. The new songs, here Jurassic Jetfighters and Mighty Magic Mammoth, are even more refined than songs like Wasabi Warmachine or Evil Wizard WuShu Master, which were also played. The older songs are by no means bad, but the newer songs tend to stick out for me.

A special event was also the duet between David and Marco, which significantly heightened the atmosphere!

In between I got to the point where I asked myself if the costumes aren’t a bit of a nuisance… But they do look exceptionally awesome!

A bit of a bummer was the fact that they had to stop playing at 22:00. Germany… I could have listened to at least half an hour more of this awesome music, but can you do?

All in all, it was a very fun evening which I thoroughly enjoyed! The music was awesome, if you account for the sound problems, and the people were having fun listening to the bands.

If you have the chance to see either VICTORIUS or FALLEN SANCTUARY live, then do it! You won’t regret it! After all, VICTORIUS have lasers!
